Brushed 2beta release date 2006-12-24

To all pleasure seekers:
I’d liked to release early this time and I’ve really tried hard to get a beta-version of Brushed going for you as a little present right on 24th.
But I didn’t succeed as I got ill a few days ago and changes between the code base of Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 are more difficult than I’ve suspected (tabs are completely corrupted at the moment, no tab-closebutton to see at all).

I’m lookin forward releasing before New Year’s Eve, although I’m a very optimistic person as regards release dates. And working digitally and being optimistically is a contradiction in terms. ;)

Entwurf eines SELFHTML-Wikis vorgestellt 2006-11-18

Gestern hat Stefan Münz im Weblog von [tag]SELFHTML[/tag] einen Entwurf für ein SELFHTML-Wiki vorgestellt: http://wiki.meta-text.net/
Als langjähriger Anhänger und Nutznießer des Projekts finde ich diese Idee ausgesprochen sinnvoll, wenngleich nicht an eine radikale Öffnung der Inhalte (wie bspw. bei der Wikipedia, vermutlich keine GNU-Lizenz für frei Dokumentation oder vergleichbare) gedacht ist.

Fight against Comment Spam in WordPress 2006-11-06

As some might have noticed, this blog was down for several hours/days in the last few weeks.
The reason for this was COMMENT SPAM.
In the beginning (around 6 months ago) I thought on getting along with it without countermeasure. But spam rose to a climax of about 30 per day. I’ve received somewhat 1000 unsolicited comments, only two of them were published – by accident. This is due to the very well-done comment-handling tools in WordPress. But I like to know what people are writing on my site, so I am getting an e-mail whenever a comment needs approvement. So it got an unbearable situation.

Solutions: Turing-Test, collaborative fight?!

Bologna-Büro der Universität Wien: Office-Dokumente stehen im OpenDocument-Format zur Verfügung 2006-10-11

Das Bologna-Büro der Universität Wien, das von mir in Fragen des Wissensmanagements und des Informations-Design beraten und betreut wird, stellt als eine der ersten Einrichtungen innerhalb der Universität Wien sämtliche Office-Dokumente auch im sog. OpenDocument-Format1 den Benutzer/innen zur Verfügung.
Was sind die Motivationen zu diesem Schritt bzw. die Vorteile dieses Formats?

orf.at wurde einer kleinen Überarbeitung unterzogen.
Für alle Leute aus dem restdeutschsprachigen Raum: orf.at ist die News-Website des Österreichischen Rundfunks. Sie bietet internationale und nationale Nachrichten in übersichtlicher Form und gehört zu den besucherstärksten Seiten im Vergleich.

Brushed surpasses 1 million download mark 2006-03-24

Yes, that’s alright! I haven’t observed the numbers that vigilantly, as Brushed for Firefox must already have surpassed 1.000.000 downloads at addons.mozilla.org for more than a week now. This are only the numbers of downloads from their site, at mine are a few tenthousands more.

Thanks a lot to all of you, who have already downloaded and appreciated using it and who have given support to improve this theme. For all others: GO, GET IT!
